EQ Resources Targets Stronger Tungsten Production with Barruecopardo Mining Restart

EQ Resources Limited (ASX: EQR) has successfully restarted higher-grade mining operations at its Barruecopardo Tungsten Mine in Spain, marking a major operational milestone after recovering from severe weather disruptions earlier this year. The restart provides the company with renewed access to higher-grade ore, positioning it to improve production performance and capitalise on rising global demand for tungsten.

The company completed the removal of nearly 1.9 million cubic metres of accumulated water following extreme rainfall that temporarily restricted mining activities. With the southern section of the open pit now accessible, mining crews have resumed operations in one of the project's highest-grade zones, where approximately 1.2 million tonnes of ore averaging 0.186% tungsten have been identified for extraction.

Barruecopardo is recognised as one of Europe's largest operating tungsten mines and plays an increasingly important role in supplying critical minerals outside China. Tungsten is widely used across defence, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, semiconductors, mining equipment, and automotive industries due to its exceptional hardness, durability, and resistance to high temperatures.

Global demand for secure tungsten supply has strengthened as governments and manufacturers seek to diversify supply chains away from dominant producers. With geopolitical uncertainties and tighter export controls affecting the global market, Western producers such as EQ Resources are becoming increasingly important sources of critical raw materials.

The restart is expected to enhance processing plant feed quality while improving operational efficiency and production consistency. Company management stated that existing Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimates remain unchanged, highlighting the long-term potential of the Barruecopardo operation despite the temporary weather-related interruption.

In addition to its Spanish operations, EQ Resources continues to advance its Mount Carbine Tungsten Project in Queensland, Australia. Together, these assets form the foundation of the company's strategy to become a leading Western supplier of responsibly sourced tungsten products for global industrial markets.

As investment in critical minerals accelerates worldwide, EQ Resources is well positioned to benefit from growing demand for secure, sustainable tungsten production. The successful restart at Barruecopardo represents an important step toward increasing output, strengthening Europe's critical mineral supply chain, and delivering long-term value for shareholders.
